African Masks

2nd graders viewed different styles of masks from Africa.  They noticed most masks tend to be symmetrical and very decorative.  Students are drawing their sketch of an African mask.

Notice the "extenders" (horns, beards, ears, etc.) to give added interest.

Look at how detailed 2nd graders made their preliminary sketches!

After we looked at slides of African masks and sketched out ideas, 2nd graders made their sketch into a real work of art.
