An awesome first grader worked on this design for a few minutes each art class since the beginning of the year. Now that's determination!

Still-Life Learning

4th graders are beginning examining a still-life and drawing what they see, not what they know. We practiced measuring with our eyes and comparing objects to understand their relationship to one another. Come back to see the finished product.

Art teachers out in the blog world, how do you do still-life lessons? I discovered the document camera is the way to go for my classroom. The plus-side is everyone has the same view point and I am able to give everyone the same tips and tricks. The down-side is the lack of diversity in the students' compositions. I find the pro outweighs the con for our first still-life attempt. :)
