Clay Coral Reef

2nd graders learned all about the coral reef, especially The Great Barrier Reef near Australia.  We discovered all different types of coral- hard and soft.  Check out our clay coral sea life rocks!

Students begin with a simple pinch pot form.  Then we flip it over, stuff it with newspaper, and start adding coral.  Some students even added sea life that lives among the coral reef!

Students made sure to "scratch and attach" the coral parts by scoring and adding slip.
