An awesome first grader worked on this design for a few minutes each art class since the beginning of the year. Now that's determination!

Coral Reef-tastic!


2nd graders learned all about the Great Barrier Reef and what lives on and around it.  They created a drawing of soft and hard coral reef with oil pastel first, and then they created a clay coral reef sculpture. These are drying after an application of glossy tempera paint. They look great!! This project was inspired by this cool idea.

Thank you! I found the idea on Pinterest (shamefully I cannot find the original post to give credit). We did a unit on underwater art making glue resist oil pastel drawings of coral reef in preparation for our clay coral reef. The kids loved it!
